Research & Innovation are no longer confined to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education. Management education in the country is taking a long leap and embracing every change in academia and industry. And it is still in the process of evolution.
According to Prof Suresh Chand Sharma, Senior Director, IBS Gurgaon, management education should reflect the current development in the economy and society and represent the primary problems common citizens face.
Sharma discussed the need for autonomy in management education and said b-schools should run like a business corporation and not depend on the government for its functioning. He also asserted that business schools are meant for students first and the faculty & management should be instrumental in order to shape the institutions.
Sharma added that faith and values are two fundamental things on which every educational institution should be based. Students are the main stakeholders. Sharma stressing on the same, said, “If b-schools want to be sustainable they need to promote the interest of students.”
Representing the ICFAI group, he added that the group is bringing in transformative education and whoever will join them will become employable.
