MoE, Springer Flag Off India Research Tour

Ministry of Education, in collaboration with Springer Nature announced the launch of the National Research Tour, an initiative designed to foster research, innovation, academic excellence and knowledge-sharing throughout India. 

The flag-off event, which marked the beginning of a national bus tour, took place at Shastri Bhavan in the national capital and featured esteemed guests, including Venkatesh Sarvasiddhi, Managing Director of Springer Nature India and Govind Jaiswal, IAS Joint Secretary, Ministry of Education.

15 Research Summits, comprising panel discussions, workshops and field activities on various topics, will be organised across 10+ states. The tour will also cover different facets of academia and research, with a special focus on the emerging trends within India’s academic landscape. 

“We are happy to collaborate with Springer Nature on this transformative initiative aimed at enhancing India’s research landscape. Education, as a fundamental human right, is the cornerstone for sustainable development, enabling individuals to unlock their full potential and societies to thrive. Our vision is to empower young researchers, support diversity in research and provide greater access for girl students to pursue scientific research,” Govind Jaiswal, expressed. 

A panel discussion on 'Excellence in Academic Learning and Research: Role of E-learning' was also held at the Delhi School of Economics as part of the inauguration of the national research tour. Prof. Daman Saluja, Chairperson, University of Delhi Research Council, Prof Rajeev Gupta, CEO, Institute of Eminence, University of Delhi, Prof Anindita Datta, Head, Department of Geography, Delhi School of Economics, Dr Rajesh Singh, Librarian, Delhi University Library System and Ed Gerstner, Director, Research Environment Alliances, Springer Nature were among the panelists.

“The National Research Tour embodies a holistic approach to foster research, innovation, and knowledge-sharing throughout India. Our joint objective with the Ministry of Education is to strengthen India’s research landscape, empower young researchers, promote access for all, and advance the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. We are particularly committed to empowering women researchers and facilitating access for female students, thus promoting the values of diversity, equity and inclusion within Indian academia,” Venkatesh Sarvasiddhi shared his perspective.
