The IndiaSkills 2024 National Competition concluded with 58 winners set to represent India at WorldSkills in Lyon, showcasing top talent across 52 skills

The IndiaSkills National Competition 2024, held from 15th to 19th May, attracted the best young minds from across India to showcase their proficiency in traditional and new-age skills. With 74 Gold, 67 Silver and 73 Bronze winners, Odisha has the highest number of winners, followed by Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. A total of 58 candidates will now train to represent India in WorldSkills in Lyon, France in September 2024.

Odisha has the highest number of winners in the Excellence Awards, with 17 Gold, 13 Silver, 9 Bronze and 12 Medallions for Excellence. Other winners include Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. The closing ceremony was attended by Atul Kumar Tiwari, Secretary of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship; Padmashri Shri Ramesh Sippy, Indian Filmmaker and Chairman of the Media and Entertainment Sector Skill Council; Dr Nirmaljeet Singh Kalsi, Chairman of the National Council for Vocational Education and Training; Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC and MD of NSDC International and Aparshakti Khurana, a renowned Indian actor, writer and singer.

Over 900 candidates from 30+ states and Union Territories participated in 61 skills including Wall and Floor Tiling, Bricklaying, Carpentry, Fashion Technology, 3D Digital Game Art, Cloud Computing, Mobile Applications Development, Autonomous Mobile Robotics, Health and Social Care and Prosthetic & Makeup, with over 400 industry experts and previous WorldSkills winners providing guidance.

IndiaSkills 2024, a competition promoting excellence in vocational education and training, saw 170+ women participate in trades previously dominated by men, including Logistics & Freight Forwarding, Web Technologies, Visual Merchandising, Electrical Installations, Industrial Design Technology and Renewable Energy. The rigorous evaluation process ensured only the most deserving contenders emerged victorious, reflecting IndiaSkills' high standards in promoting excellence in vocational education and training.

IndiaSkills 2024 featured 47 onsite and 14 offsite skills competitions in Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Participants also participated in 9 exhibition skills like drone-making, textile-weaving, leather-shoemaking and prosthetics-makeup. Tamil Nadu had the highest participation with 86 candidates, followed by Odisha, Karnataka, Punjab and Haryana. The event provided networking and professional development opportunities.

IndiaSkills has introduced a competition information system called Qrencia, allowing participants to earn credits within the National Credit Framework. This year, the competitions showcased skills aligned with the National Skills Qualification Framework, enabling participants to creditise their learning outcomes and lead successful careers in their chosen fields. IndiaSkills has been supported by over 400 industry and academic partners, including Toyota Kirloskar, Autodesk, JK Cement, Maruti Suzuki, Lincoln Electric, NAMTECH, Vega, Loreal, Schneider Electric, Festo India, Artemis, Medanta and Cygnia Healthcare.
