The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a series of pleas on July 8; claiming paper leaks and irregularities in the NEET-UG 2024 examination, which took place on May 5.
The pleas for July 8 are listed on the top court's website before a bench consisting of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra.
The NEET-UG examination, conducted by NTA, is the entrance exam for MBBS, BDS and AYUSH courses in government and private institutions. The 2024 exam, held across 4,750 centres, attracted around 24 lakh candidates.
The apex court has requested a response from the National Testing Agency (NTA) regarding the fresh NEET-UG, 2024 examination amid allegations of paper leaks. The court has emphasised the importance of addressing any negligence in the exam's conduct and urged the NTA to respond promptly.
The Centre and NTA canceled the grace marks for 1,563 candidates, offering them the chance to take a re-test on June 23 or forgo compensatory marks for time loss. A total of 813 students participated in the retest held across seven centres.
Aspirants filed petitions in the apex court claiming leakage of the question paper, compensatory marks and anomalies in the NEET-UG 2024 exam. They sought direction to recall results and conduct the exam afresh, alleging paper leaks and malpractices. The court refused to stay the counseling of the NEET-UG 2024.
