In response to controversies surrounding the cancellation of the UGC-National Eligibility Test (NET) exams and irregularities in the NEET-UG, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has announced the formation of a high-level committee to scrutinise the operations of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
During a press briefing, Minister Pradhan emphasised the government's dedication to conducting error-free exams. The newly established committee aims to improve the NTA's overall functioning.
Pradhan described paper leaks as an institutional failure of the NTA and mentioned that the reform committee would be announced soon. It will include technocrats, scientists, administrators, and academicians.
"The high-level committee will be tasked with providing recommendations to enhance the NTA's structure, operations, examination procedures, transparency, and data security protocols," he stated.
He also assured that strict actions would be taken against anyone found guilty, including NTA officials.
Regarding the decision to cancel the UGC-NET exam a day after it was conducted, Pradhan explained that this measure was taken following inputs from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) to safeguard the exam's integrity.
