Edu Ministry Forms High-level Committee For Fair Examinations

The Ministry of Education has formed a high-level committee to address examination irregularities and prevent paper leaks. Chaired by former ISRO chief K Radhakrishnan, the committee will submit its recommendations in two months

The Ministry of Education has established a high-level committee to ensure fair examinations and address irregularities. The committee has been given two months to submit its report.

In response to irregularities observed in exams ranging from NEET UG to NET, the Ministry of Education has set up a high-level committee to prevent paper leaks. This committee will submit its report within the next two months, detailing how to conduct fair examinations. Recently, the government has faced significant controversy over exams like NEET and NET, with students nationwide continuously protesting against it.
Committee Members

The government has included seven members in this committee. Former ISRO chief K. Radhakrishnan has been appointed as the chairman. Other members include former AIIMS director Randeep Guleria, Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Hyderabad, B.J. Rao, Ramamurthy from the Department of Civil Engineering at IIT Madras, co-founder of PeopleStrong and board member of Karmyogi Bharat Pankaj Bansal, Dean of Students at IIT Delhi Professor Aditya Mittal, and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Education Govind Jaiswal.

 

Subjects for committee recommendations

The committee is tasked with suggesting improvements in the examination process. This includes analysing the exam process from start to finish, enhancing the system's efficiency, and proposing measures to prevent any potential breaches. They will conduct an in-depth review of NTA's standard operating procedures (SOPs)/protocols and suggest ways to strengthen them and ensure compliance at every level. Additionally, the committee will provide recommendations on improving data security protocols.

 

Recommendations on data security

The committee will also give suggestions regarding the data systems related to exams. This involves evaluating NTA's current data security procedures and protocols and recommending improvements. They will examine the existing security protocols related to paper-setting and other processes for various exams and suggest ways to enhance the system's robustness.

 

Other recommendations

The committee will make recommendations on the structure and functioning of the National Testing Agency (NTA), including organisational structure and operational methods. They will clearly define the roles and responsibilities of officials at every level and assess the current grievance redressal mechanism, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations to enhance its capacity. The committee will submit its report to the ministry within two months from the date of issuance of this order. They may also include any subject matter expert to assist them.
