We Need To Devise Our Education Model, Says Anil Swarup

At the Businessworld Education School Leaders' Conclave 2018, people from academia and policymakers came together to discuss contemporary challenges that the Education sector is grappling with.

Anil Swarup, Secretary-Ministry of Human Resources Development emphasized the fact that we need to devise our own education models rather than aping other countries models blindly. He said that our country has a lot of potential and resources and all we need to do is to identify the problems and suggest a practical solution. He said that even in rural India, our educators are walking an extra mile to deliver quality education. Therefore it is a time when we must put our act together and support such ideas which have a possibility to translate the disadvantages into success stories.

"We picked up a few models of educational reforms throughout the country and trying to understand that can other schools be benefitted", he added.

Swarup mentioned about a solar power-driven school in Chhattisgarh which was an idea of a teacher at a school in the same region.
He said that the adopted model now has been followed by at least 60,000 schools.
Launched in September 2017, Diksha programme enables teachers to upload self-help videos to be used by other teachers in the process of teaching.
