The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship organised the second ‘Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh’ an annual skill convocation ceremony, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to students live. Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, and Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Electronics & Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, attended an event attended by various officials, dignitaries and students.
The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, emphasised, “The importance of youth in utilising the country's resources and empowering its youth. He highlighted the country's approach to skill development, which includes establishing new medical colleges and institutes and promoting employment and entrepreneurship. The Prime Minister also highlighted India's record-breaking growth in goods, mobile, electronic, services, defence and manufacturing sectors, while creating new opportunities for youth in sectors like space, startups, drones, animation, electric vehicles and semiconductors.”
The Prime Minister of India, emphasised, the importance of skilling, upskilling and re-skilling in response to the changing demands of jobs. The establishment of over 5,000 new Institutes of Technical Education (ITIs) in the country in the last nine years, adding over 4 lakh new seats. The PM also highlighted the increasing scope of skill development, including women's self-help groups preparing for drone technology and the growth of employment opportunities and the decrease in unemployment rates in both rural and urban areas.
Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, announced, “India will remain the fastest-growing major economy in the coming years, with the IMF confident of India becoming one of the top three economies in the next 3-4 years. He stressed the importance of making India the world's largest centre of skilled manpower.”
Dharmendra Pradhan announced that NEP 2020 has introduced skill training to the education system from Class VI, emphasising the integration of schooling and skilling. He also mentioned the integration of emerging areas like semiconductor into the curriculum. He also mentioned that 15000 women will receive drones for precision and pointed agriculture and the significant increase in women's participation in India's skill ecosystem, a decline in unemployment rate and the addition of 1.5 core citizens to the skilling ecosystem.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Electronics & Information Technology, congratulated the recipients of certificates and emphasised the Prime Minister's vision to create a Viksit Bharat for every youth, regardless of their economic condition or location. Skill India, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has changed the situation, enabling 30 crore out of the 40 crore workforce to acquire formal training, paving the way for a stronger future. The Skill India programme's achievements were showcased, along with 100 NIMI Bhasha books translated into 12 regional languages and a handbook on entrepreneurship development was launched.
Prime Minister emphasised empowering women by recognising female candidates for breaking into traditionally male-dominated roles. The Directorate General of Training conducted exams for the Academic session 2022-23 and 2-2023 under the Craftsmen Training Scheme, with a pass percentage of 88.07 per cent and 92.02 per cent for the final examinations.
‘Kaushal Deekshant Samaroh’ combines school-based and work-based learning and aims to nurture talent and equip students with skills for various job roles.
