Two undergraduate students of Pearl Academy, Thira Goswami and Tanisha Singh won laurels at the India Skills Competition that was held in Aero City, New Delhi recently. Thira Goswami won Gold in Visual Merchandising category and Tanisha Singh won silver in Fashion Technology category.
The five-day competition was organized by National Skill Development Corporation under the aegis of The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India from October 2-6, 2018. Skill India competitions are held first at the state and regional levels and then at the national level. At the skills competition, students from 27 states and Union territories across India participated in 45 different skills. Only 2 students representing each region – East, West, North and South compete at the national level. Thira was one of the students representing East region and Tanisha was one of the students representing the North region. 'World Skills Competition' which is the next level will be held in Russia in 2019. Talat Razia, a fashion design student at Pearl had represented India at the World Skills Competition In 2017.
Thira Goswami, an undergraduate student of Fashion Styling and Image Designing at Pearl Academy won Gold Medal at the event along with the prize worth Rs. 2 lakh. The students in this category were judged on the parameters of research, relevant mood board, concept, precision in making props, clean and finished walls, replicating the digital window and presentation.
Tanisha Singh, an undergraduate Fashion Design student from Pearl Academy won Silver Medal at the event along with the prize worth Rs. 1.75 lakh. The Fashion Technology section of the competition assessed students on five parameters such as Draping, Sketching, Pattern Making, Garment Construction and Embellishment.
