In the dynamic realm of artificial intelligence (AI), where the needs of businesses, market forces and technology change constantly, certain demonstrated mindsets and actions of students can be nurtured and enhanced by right guidance and support

At the BW Top Education Brands Summit & Awards held on Wednesday, 28 August 2024 at The Park Hotel in New Delhi, a panel discussion titled 'Career Clarity in the Age of Information Excess: How Schools Can Provide a Clear Picture and Guide Students Based on Interest, Aptitude, and Personality' took place. The speakers included Pradeep Paul, Vice Principal (CBSE), Genesis Global School; Dr Sangeeta Bhatia, Principal, KIIT World School and Aarti Khurana, Principal - International Curriculum, Sharda World School. The discussion was moderated by Ruhail Amin, Senior Editor, BW Businessworld & Exchange4media.

Khurana expressed, “After spending nearly 28 years in the field of education, I’m still perplexed as there is large population of students who never took forward what they were taught during their nascent years, the main reason behind that is we are so focussed on results and this result oriented education system is forcing students to choose their preference of career later in life”.

Bhatia said, “A lot is being done and a lot still needs to be done. When I say so, by that I mean we are still in that stage of transformation where we are still fixated on charm of top Institutions like IITs and IIMs and not on pursuing a particular field for instance it’s IIT not engineering which allures the students or even their parents. We are still in that phase of transition where we need to go from conventional career options to not so conventional careers like influencing, digital marketing etc."

Paul shared, “We all know that schools are changing quite rapidly and we have a very significant role to play to explore their potential. For example, there is a student who took admission where only two sports options are available cricket and football and he is forced to choose football. So in this case, is school catering the interest of that student? The answer is quite obvious. So the point here is that schools should try to offer more to students and let them decide accordingly.
