Indian American Vishal Gaur Named Dean Of Cornell Graduate School Of Management

Vishal Gaur, a professor of operations at Cornell Johnson Graduate School of Management, has been named the Anne and Elmer Lindseth Dean, which will be effective from July 1. He will succeed Mark Nelson who has served as dean since the year 2016.

Presently, the Emerson Professor of Manufacturing Management and professor of operations, technology and information management, the Indian American is the programme director at the school’s MS in Business Analytics, as per the university statement. He has also served as the associate dean for MBA programmes. During that tenure, he introduced the Digital Technology Immersion.

His research concentrates on data-driven analysis of problems in supply chains, e-commerce, retailing and marketplace operations and his work has been recognised with the Wickham Skinner Early Career Research Accomplishments Award from the Production and Operations Management Society in the year 2006. He has created a method for benchmarking the inventory turnover performance of firms and his current projects include the reduction of supply chain risk and food waste.

Gaur has done his BTech in Computer Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and PhD from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
