To understand the changes being brought, in the education landscape due to the Coronavirus pandemic, BW Education hosted another episode of its Wednesday Wisdom Webinar Series in association with BW Businessworld. The session was a one-on-one conversation between Biswajit Saha, Director – Training & Skill Education, CBSE and Dr Annurag Batra, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief, BW Businessworld & exchange4media Group.
Talking about the last 200 days, Biswajit Saha asserted, “It has been a different experience. The initial 10-15 days were real lockdown and definitely we got the opportunity to spend quality time with all the family members but beside this, the initiation of online meetings from home started gradually. Then we, the entire team of CBSE planned how to resolve the problems related to schools, how to connect with the schools. We tried to call many principals and also bring them on a virtual platform. Then ideations, brainstormings took place.”
Commenting on the edutech domain, Saha said that it is going to grow heavily but with a little precaution and threat associated with it. “Chalk-duster to pen & paper, pen & paper to online screen and the screen will last for quite some time. So, ed-Tech companies are going to play a pivotal role but what would be the teachers’ role, how many Android teachers and how many Mac teachers would be available in the ecosystem. Many rote-based teachers are floating in the market. Ed-Techs will of course play a great role but how are we going to use it, is a matter of concern. Because cybersecurity is a big issue. The mental well being of the child and prolong screen usage, that neuro-chemistry is quite important.”
