Admissions Open In Delhi Model Virtual School

Delhi CM on August 31, 2022 rolled out country's first virtual school for students to study from grade 9 to 12. Delhi Model Virtual School (DMVS) will be affiliated by Delhi Board of School Education (DBSE) and hence will follow its curriculum. The certificates and mark sheets will also be provided by DBSE.

Rejecting the claim of National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) about having opened first virtual educational institution in 2021 itself, Delhi's Chief Minister Arving Kejriwal said that the centre runs 'in-person study centres' in various parts of the country, while DMVS is strictly an online only institution and not a hybrid. Its fully virtual.

The institution is currently open for admissions to grade 9.

Admission

DMVS is for grades 9 to 12. In the present academic year 2022-23, students can apply for admissions to grade 9. 

Eligibility

For admission to class 9, students should be between 13 to 18 years in age at the time of enrollment and they must have qualified grade 8. They should have the marksheet of the same during the verification process.

Process

Firstly an application form is needed to be filled, then document verification will take place and lastly online proctored exam or online counselling session will be held.

Important dates

Admissions began on August 25, 2022. Last date for application form and uploading documents is September 4, 2022. 

In words of Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister, Govt of NCT Delhi, DMVS is first of its kind virtual school that will strive to provide excellent education to students remotely through personalised teaching learning and use of cutting edge technology. "It will ensure learning opportunities for all under the principle of - anywhere living, anytime learning, anytime testing."

Pedagogy

Students of DMVS can communicate live with teachers from any location, with a curated repository of learning material designed for their requirements. Virtual teaching at DMVS includes pedagogical practices for virtual learning, teaching and assessment. The DMVS learning platform is easy to access and adaptive to the needs of the students.

An essential element of DMVS is that students can engage with learning materials and classes at their own pace. All live classes are stored for later utilisation. It helps students who are pursuing their passion such as music, sports or doing full time/part time jobs to still be able to achieve quality education.

Students are provided education particularly designed as per their needs. In tutorials, they engage with what they have learnt in the class in small groups under the supervision of subject teachers. Students can get on-demand one-on-one academic guidance.

DMVS permits students to take assessments on concepts rather than a specific course syllabus. This implies students can study a concept and choose for online assessments whenever they feel ready for it.

The institution provides students with opportunities of socialisation via co-curricular activities in various domains including Art & Craft and Physical Education. Personalised support will also be provided to students as per their requirement by school staff.

DMVS offers a variety of professional courses that enables students to hone their skills and competencies.

The institution plans to offer support to prepare for CUET, JEE/NEET and other entrance exams in class 11 and 12.
