“We Ensure Students Are Prepared For Leadership Roles”

What goes into the making of a dynamic higher education institute?

Leadership: Leadership is critical not only for defining where an institute is heading but what its eventual goal is. Leadership is responsible for setting a strong vision for the future. Strong leadership also enforces the correct degree of change needed regarding curriculum, faculty, industry connections, etc.

Accreditation: At NIET, we focus extensively on revising and formulating a cohesive curriculum and learning pedagogy that is nationally recognised by the top educational boards in the country. NIET is the first Institute in Uttar Pradesh to attain the “Autonomous” institute status by UGC. The institute has also garnered acclamation from NIRF, NAAC and NBC.

Placements: Placement is not just the result of an excellent teaching pedagogy but also evidence of an institute's reputation in the market. In 2023, NIET placed their engineering, technology and management students in Leading MNCs such as Amazon, Walmart, Microsoft, Deloitte, Wipro, etc. and accumulated more than 2700+ campus placement offers.

How is your institute/ university investing in skilling so that students are well-equipped for Industry 5.0?

Industry 5.0 will ensure that humans work alongside smart machines that incorporate advanced modules of machine learning and artificial intelligence. At NIET, we are preparing our students for Industry 5.0 through:

Industry partnerships: Establishing various industry academic partnerships between students and leading companies, NIET has provided its students with access to the latest happening, emerging technologies and forecast changes that will occur.

Drawing from your own experience over the years, what are the strengths of Indian education and what are the areas where improvement is needed?

Catering to millions of students and countless working professionals, India's education system is rooted in deep theoretical knowledge. This emphasis has created knowledgeable individuals, but practical applications have always been needed. India's education system needs to add the following aspects for improvement:

Industry-academia connects: Collaborations with top companies help formulate an enhanced industry-oriented educational programme. At NIET, we have collaborated with MNCs like Capgemini, Intel, Salesforce, IBM, Dell, Coursera and many more.

Work experience prerequisites: Corporate operations differ vastly from educational practices. Hence, many individuals find the transition difficult. At NIET, students are required to complete an internship to gain practical, hands-on experience in regard to their area of interest.

InfrastructureTo drive digital learning to a higher platform, institutes need to focus on providing the apt facilities and infrastructure that help advance student potential. NIET provides fully furnished innovation labs for programming, group discussions and technical knowledge of their skills.

How are you taking forward the multi-disciplinarity, as envisaged by the NEP?

Multidisciplinary education revolves around a holistic learning and accessible environment. At NIET, we emphasise this through the following:

Infrastructure: Our innovation labs, designed in partnerships with Mercedes-Benz, Apple and Cisco, are all focused on directing students' careers in areas of IT technologies, programming, prototype development and problem-solving.

Accomplished faculty: NIET's faculty members are all senior academics deployed with the correct level of corporate knowledge and academic expertise to help maximise student potential in a variety of skills.

Industry-Integrated programmes: Striving to incorporate growing technologies and practices within their curriculum, NIET has established industry-academic partnerships with MNCs like Cisco, Mercedes-Benz, Coursera, BMW, Dell, etc.

With technology having made deep inroads in education, what is the role of faculty in higher education institutes?

While digital learning has grown exponentially over the years, quality education is still centered around teachers and their expertise. The presence of a high-quality faculty provides the following benefits:

Curriculum development: A high-quality faculty understands the needs of the students and can help formulate the correct improvements needed to help match industry students. While this is an overlooked aspect of education, an evolving curriculum is vital to drive effective placements and career advancements for students.

Academic expertise: As technology and digitisation grow, it becomes more and more complex, hence, students need academics with technological and educational experience to drive their learning. At NIET, we place a stringent requirement on selecting teachers with decades of experience in their field to ensure that each student is academically supported.

Practical Application: As technology is embedded within learning institutes need the correct faculty that educates students on how to apply them for results. Certain concepts such as data analysis, advanced programming and software development need to be dispersed practically and an expired faculty is the key to achieving this.
