Turnitin Software To Be Used To Detect Plagiarism: Prakash Javadekar

Union HRD Minister has recently announced that a software namely 'Turnitin' will be used to check plagiarism in the theses submitted by PhD candidates. Those persons, who are not able to pass the plagiarism test of their dissertation would not be given the doctorate degree. These steps have been taken by the central government in order to keep a check on such illegal practices. This would make sure that no person is able to copy somebody else’s thesis and everybody is judged upon their own hard work. The government has decided to used Turnitin as well as some other software so that there is no cheating by any person and the doctorate degree is given to only those who’ve done proper research to prepare their thesis. This decision was told by the minister to media in Shirdi after visiting the auspicious Saibaba Temple. 

During this, he was also asked about the permission for the Shri Sai Baba Sansthan Trust to start a medical college, Javadekar said "Once the proposal is received, I will speak to the Indian Medical Association for getting permission for the college", according to The Financial Express.
