Being gainfully employed is a considerable necessity that helps to take one to the next level and it plays a significant role in shaping our lifestyles and contributing to our overall wellbeing

The common notion is that jobs are difficult to find. At the outset, that sounds true. But dig deeper and you will find that there are 5 crore listed jobs in India. So, it is job readiness that is most vital, as jobs can be found across verticals. The question is how equipped you are for the job, when the opportunity arises. Studies reveal that only 12 per cent of graduates in India are ready for jobs and that is such a huge gap.

My vision for the future is clear: we have to leverage AI-powered solutions to tackle the common issues of employability in India. There is this big disconnect between what we learn in school and what the industry needs. Our innovative, AI-powered platform Talisma Jeevika helps students identify the areas where they lack skills, provides the best suggestions and career advice and keeps them up to date on industry trends besides providing them various support systems.

Talisma Jeevika helps students access personalised recommendations tailored to their skills and aspirations. Finding jobs that are related to what we have studied is the most challenging task in today's world and there are plenty of unemployed graduates currently facing these issues. At times, universities may not always provide students with the specific skills employers are looking for, leaving graduates feeling unprepared for the workplace realities. Many entry-level jobs require some level of practical experience and that is why recent graduates struggle to compete with candidates who have had internships or have volunteered work experience under their belt. The job market can be overflowing, especially for certain degrees or industries and this can make it difficult for graduates to stand out from the crowd. Employers may hesitate to hire freshers for entry-level positions due to their lack of prior experience. Recent graduates may have unrealistic salary expectations based on their level of experience and that’s why building a professional network can be crucial for landing a job. So, as you can see, there are multiple challenges youngsters are facing today while trying to get themselves employed.

Talisma Jeevika helps to reduce the burden on youngsters by giving them career ideas and knowledge, heightening their graduate employability and prospects in the job market. Students can monitor their ‘employment readiness index’ to assess their suitability for particular job positions. Applying for roles is simplified, as students can tailor their profiles to match job requirements with just one click.

I strongly believe that AI has all the potential solutions for addressing India's critical employability challenge. Through the utilisation of data and tailored skill enhancement routes, Talisma strives to supply students with the expertise and resources necessary to get a foothold into their desired professions.

To reach a high success rate, it requires a strategic approach. Firstly, I want to raise awareness among students, educators and universities across India. Secondly, my goal is to see a significant increase in graduate employability, ideally reaching 50 per cent or 70 per cent within a set time limit. Also, partnering with industry leaders in various sectors is crucial for gathering insights into in-demand skills and developing relevant courses for students. By setting these smart goals and working collaboratively, Talisma Jeevika aspires to revolutionise the way education prepares students for successful careers in India.

To conclude, I would like to strongly emphasise that being gainfully employed is a considerable necessity that helps to take one to the next level and it plays a significant role in shaping our lifestyles and contributing to our overall wellbeing. It also offers many benefits that extend far beyond just a paycheck. While the initial job search can be challenging, the rewards of being employed are undeniable.
