The parameters
Before going through the list of the top university and colleges in India, let’s understand on what basis NIRF ranks to institutions. As per NIRF, they provide ranking for institutions in five broad generic group of parameters, namely; Teaching, Learning and Resources, Research and Professional Practice, Graduation Outcome, Outreach and Inclusivity and Perception.
Teaching, Learning & Resources: In this parameter, NIRF primarily checks these five things in an institution; student strength of the institution, faculty-student ratio, faculty with PhD, financial resources and utilisation and availability of online education.
Research and Professional Practice: In the second parameter, the ranking body simply calculates the number of publications, citations, patents and research projects done by the institution.
Graduation Outcome: In this, NIRF checks the number of placements and higher studies, participation in the university examination, the median salary of the faculty and the number of PhD students in an institution.
Outreach and Inclusivity: This parameter is to understand in what amount the institute has regional diversity, women diversity and the percentage of economically & socially challenged students and physically challenged students.
Perception: It checks the employees’ and academic peers’ perceptions.
