The policy is being drafted by a nine member panel which is headed by the former Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chairman and Padma Vibhushan, Dr. K Kasturirangan.
Union HRD Minister, Prakash Javadekar said that the first draft of the New Education Policy would be released by December end and should be ready to be implemented by 2020.
The policy is being drafted by a nine member panel which is headed by the former Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) chairman and Padma Vibhushan, Dr. K Kasturirangan.
Apart from Kasturirangan, the nine-member committee includes K.J. Alphonse, a retired bureaucrat and special invitee to the BJP’s executive committee, mathematician and Fields Medal winner Manjul Bhargava from Princeton University and Vasudha Kamat, a prominent academic.
Javadekar did not offer a clear date for the implementation of the policy that has been expected for the last three years.
However, the Minister did say that the new education policy will be implemented well in time to witness positive changes in education from 2020 to 2040.
About the policy, Javadekar said that it will offer a new vision of modern thought and growth in science, technology and human values and will take the country to the next level.
