The mental health crisis in educational institutions is escalating due to academic pressures, exam stress, societal expectations and inadequate mental health education. The stigma surrounding mental health can hinder open discussions and help-seeking, exacerbating the situation.
A survey at JGU reveals that while 90 per cent of students acknowledge mental health issues, 52 per cent feel they lack access to necessary services. The Sukoon centre will serve as a support for students grappling with more mental health issues than ever before. 30 per cent have sought professional help, 66 per cent know of peers struggling with substance abuse and 81 per cent report mental health concerns. Expert studies highlight the growing need for mental health support among students and the importance of expert guidance.
Sukoon’s offerings at JGU include:
Professional Support: The team consists of qualified and compassionate counselors, therapists and mental health professionals committed to supporting student’s mental health journey. Sukoon Health will provide family therapy services as well.
