International Mental Health Conference To Be Conducted At IIHMR University; Raga Z Jazz To Perform

In order to bridge the gap between the demand for mental health care services and its supply in India and leverage IT platforms for this purpose, health management institute, the Indian Institute for Health Management and Research University (IIHMR U), Jaipur, is organizaing an international conference on the theme, ‘Skill Development for Diagnosis and Management of Mental Health Problems using Digital Technology’ starting Thursday.

An International scientific meeting scheduled to be held on February 9, 2019 and a three-day Training on Skill Development for Diagnosis and Management of Mental Illness using Digital Technology organized by the Rural Mental Health Section of WPA, University of Chester, South Asia Self Harm Initiative (SASHI), IPS and IIHMR University, to be held at IIHMR U between February 7-9, 2019. Day three will be conducted in conference mode to share experiences of leading national and international experts.

The objectives of the meet are to describe mental illness (prevalence, categories, causes, symptoms and impact) from a public health perspective, explain challenges in providing mental health services, preventing suicide and develop clinical skills to assess mental disorders using GMHAT/PC. The participants will include policy makers, academic professionals, medical professionals, nursing and paramedical professionals, faculty members, voluntary organizations, social workers, and health / hospital managers.

Also performing at the event will be renowned pianist-composer Richard X Bennett with some groove jazz and raga based explorations. Pianist / Composer Richard X Bennett plays unique and soulful jazz with a sound all his own. His albums, the jazz-raga quintet ‘Experiments With Truth’ and the groove jazz trio ‘What Is Now’ were released simultaneously by Ropeadope Records in October 2017. His ambient solo, ‘Away From the Many’, was released in April 2018 and his piano / electronica collaboration with HUW, Wood/Water, was released in July. He also has five critically acclaimed raga-based records on the Indian labels, Times Music and Mystica Music. In Mumbai he headlined the Mumbai and Kalaghoda Festivals. In New York, he has previously performed at the Lincoln Center Out of Doors, The Guggenheim Museum, The Rubin Museum, and Central Park Summerstage. This is rXb's first appearance in Jaipur.

For students, the World Psychiatric Association has granted 24 CE points for the whole event. The Rajasthan Medical Education has granted SIX Credit Hours for the whole event.
