‘Innovate India Coding Championship (IICC) - 2022’ organised by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) and Coding Ninjas - India’s online upskilling platform for aspiring and professional coders, in collaboration with Chandigarh University, concluded with an event in Chandigarh. Shlok Goyal from IIT Roorkee won the competition while Tanveer Singh from BITS Pilani and Ruturaj Godse from BITS Pilani Goa campus secured second and third rank respectively.
The national level coding championship was launched as a part of the 75th Independence Day celebration under ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The three staged competition witnessed a participation of over 100,000 students from 4,500 colleges and universities. Out of the total participants, 25000 students qualified for round two and the top 1000 coders from 650 colleges competed in the finale which went on for six straight hours.
Pre-competition, Coding Ninjas organised mentorship and up-skilling sessions where industry experts addressed the students and shared their coding experiences. This initiative was supported by the Google Developer Student Clubs (GDSC) India which assisted with pre-event Masterclass and encouraged the student community to participate in the national-level championship. The IICC event was duly supported by its community partners like IEEE, Computer Society of India & ACM Association of India.
The winners and participants of IICC 2022 were rewarded with prizes worth Rs 11 lakh as a recognition of the success and effort put in by them while competing with each other. Top performers of the IICC 2022 were also given an opportunity to get internship or placement opportunities with leading tech companies along with Coding Ninjas upskilling scholarships.
The IICC-2022 finale was hosted on-ground, in the presence of 400 students from 175 colleges, which also included a closing ceremony that took place on August 11-12, 2022, within the premises of Chandigarh University. Abhishek Gupta, Head of Business, Coding Ninjas; Karan Bhargav, Coding Ninjas; Professor Anand Agarwal, Vice-Chancellor, Chandigarh University; Dr B Priestley Shan, Dean - Academic Affairs and Tanvi Somani, Programme Manager, Google Developer Group, India graced the event.
