Total time for answering the test will be 180 minutes. Questions will be of multiple choice type with only one correct answer.

Therefore, maximum marks in IAT will be 240.

The total marks obtained by a candidate out of 240 will be considered for preparing the Rank List.
Not every candidate appearing in IAT 2024 will be awarded a rank. The rank cut-off will be announced at an appropriate time. Further, getting a rank does not guarantee an offer/admission to an IISER.

Spokesperson from IISER said, “We are committed to promote excellence in education and research in basic sciences and related areas. As the demand for interdisciplinary research and science education grows, it is imperative for IISERs to evolve and create their own niche in global academia. The IISER Aptitude Test (IAT) aims to select students who have a strong urge to discover the unknown and take up the challenge in paving the way for further advancements in the scientific community. Through the IAT, the “Brand IISER” is expected to be more popular among the budding talents and have a significant impact by facilitating the identification of individuals who possess the aptitude and passion to excel in the field of science and related areas.”
