The Indian Institute of Management Kashipur concluded its three-day-long Management Education and Research Colloquium (MERC) with the announcement of three best research papers. Out of 720 papers, 50 per cent were female and only 300 were shortlisted for the final round. Academic experts from IIM Ahmadabad, IIM Bangalore and USA addressed the scholars.
MERC is a conclave established by IIM Kashipur to promote knowledge, innovation and collaboration in management education and research. It provides a dynamic platform for nationwide scholars to share research, exchange ideas and foster meaningful collaborations.
IIM Kashipur's research papers were analysed in the 4th edition of MERC, with 300 shortlisted for the final round. The jury selected the three best papers, with Shreya Srivastava from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology (MNNIT) Allahabad winning the best research paper award. Mohd Mujahid Khan's paper on Newsvendor was chosen as the second-best paper and Virender Kumar's paper on NRI was chosen as the third-best.
IIM Bangalore's Finance professors, Sankarshan Basu, Neharika Vohra and Jason Bennett Thatcher, addressed theoretical aspects of the research, while Dr Jai Advani, Managing Director of PwC Company and Dr Anu B Gupta, a renowned economist, guided the scholars on how to use research in the management industry.
The MERC, launched on May 31, received research papers from Indian institutes on topics like artificial intelligence in e-commerce, COVID-19 vaccine diplomacy, online shopping, lotteries, Gig workers, tribal women millet entrepreneurs and green pilgrimages in Uttarakhand. Chief guest Dr Jai Advani, Managing Director of PwC Company, emphasised the importance of research in the volatile management industry.
