A five-day workshop from November 4-8, 2024, specifically designed for M.Ed. Special Education (Learning Disabilities and Visual Impairments) course students being organised by the The Department of Teacher Training and Non-Formal Education (IASE), Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI). The workshop is specially designed for first and third Semester students and M.Ed special education third semester students (Learning Disabilities and Visual Impairments) are in 0rganizer role & M.Ed. Special education first year Students (Learning Disabilities and Visual Impairments) are in participants' roles.
The inaugural session for the same was held on November 4, 2024, beginning with the recitation of Tilawat-e-Quran by Aaftab Alam. This was followed by a warm welcome address delivered by Nabiya and Ishika. Saurabh Ray, coordinator, M.Ed. Special education programme, provided an insightful introduction to the workshop, discussing the programme's objectives and anticipated outcomes. M.Ed. student Bharti Sharma then presented the detailed schedule of the workshop, while r, Bharti Sharma, coordinator, elaborated on the workshop’s rationale, highlighting the importance of assessment tools and techniques for educators working with children with special needs.
Jessy Abraham, Head of the Department, addressed the participants, underscoring the critical need for specialised tools and assessment knowledge essential for future special education teacher educators. Sara Begum, Dean, Faculty of Education, also shared her valuable insights on the role of assessment in special education, encouraging students to develop a nuanced understanding of various techniques.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dilkash Firoz, expressing gratitude to all participants, speakers and organisers for their contributions in making the workshop a success.
