Amity School of Engineering and Technology, Amity University Noida organised a Panel Discussion on the theme, "Engineering and Innovation: Building Future of Nation" on the occasion of Engineer's Day. The objectives of the programme were to highlight the role of Engineering in National Development and promote Engineering Innovation as a catalyst for progress.
Deliberating upon the theme, "Engineering and Innovation: Building Future of Nation" Vinay Kumar, Founder, Neo Petcon(India), stated, “Only Engineering can produce quality lifestyle products from available sources and some examples of the same are drug discovery for healthcare, invention of means of communication such as television, radio, internet, social media, transportation, information technology, and other technologies, which we all use in our daily lives. A nation can only be called a developed nation when there are advancements in science and technologies. The future of our country rests on the shoulders of the youth, therefore, they must aim to work relentlessly in the area of engineering and technology, thereby making their country proud.”
Addressing the students, Anamika Kadam, DGM (Civil), Larsen & Toubro Construction, averred “Engineering and construction play an important role in the construction industry. The most frequently used sustainable practices in construction engineering include reuse and recycle construction waste, utilisation of energy star-certified products, use of sustainable and local materials, use of solar materials, rainwater harvesting, amongst other practices. Technologies are evolving in the construction industry and civil engineering students must keep pace and be at par with those emerging technologies.”
Balvinder Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh, said, “Engineering is the backbone of any nation since the entire infrastructural development depends upon civil engineering. In addition, new technologies and innovations can only be developed through engineering, therefore, the role of young engineers will be the most crucial in fulfilling the Prime Minister's mission of Viksit Bharat@2047. Students must learn and understand the basics of engineering clearly, make their foundation strong and also develop their expertise in their area of interest. Today our country is at the forefront of manufacturing, supply chain, construction, information technology, and many other fields. India will soon become the world's largest economy, wherein the youth will have a huge contribution.”
Welcoming the guests, Manoj Kumar Pandey, Director, Amity School of Engineering & Technology, said, “Since ancient times, our country has been a pioneer in the field of engineering and ancient texts have mentioned about the use of technology in making aircrafts, deadly weapons and also in the construction of ancient monuments and buildings, which were highly advanced. Technology changes with time and today it is industry 6.0, therefore, students must learn new skills so that they can adapt to new technologies and innovate path-breaking products and innovations for societal benefit.”
The Panel Discussion concluded with an interactive Question & Answer Session, wherein the experts answered the queries of the students.
