Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced that the 2024 Union Budget will prioritise employment, skilling, MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) and the middle class. Presenting a record seventh account of the government's finances, Sitharaman emphasised the focus on these areas to benefit 4.1 crore young men and women across the country.
Sitharaman highlighted that the government aims to create significant opportunities for the youth through comprehensive schemes and measures in employment and skilling. The budget provisions aim to bridge the gap between education and employability, ensuring that young individuals are well-prepared for the job market.
In addition to skilling and employment, the budget also allocates substantial funds for the development and support of MSMEs, which play a crucial role in the Indian economy. By bolstering these enterprises, the government aims to stimulate economic growth and create more job opportunities.
Overall, the schemes and measures, both existing and to be announced, will be implemented over a five-year period with a total outlay of Rs 2 lakh crore. This substantial investment reflects the government's commitment to fostering economic development and improving the livelihoods of millions across the nation.
