Educating People Is A Very Noble Profession: Vineet Patawari, Co-Founder & CEO, Elearnmarkets

How critical was the last couple of months for your business?

Last few months amidst lockdown have been extremely exciting at Elearmarkets.com. In FY21, the average monthly user acquisition went up 3 folds and average monthly revenue went up almost 2 folds of last year. Since there has been a huge surge in interest in both financial markets and online education during the lockdown, the last few months were extremely critical for our growth.

What motivates you in the times of crisis: do you see it as an opportunity or a challenge?

COVID-19 pandemic has acted as a catalyst in the growth of Indian financial markets. Since April, the number of new trading accounts and new mutual fund folios added went up significantly. Moreover, the paradigm shift in the Indian context with respect to the financialization of savings is leading to super-fast growth in equity culture in the country. This has translated into increased interest in learning about trading, investing and various financial products or concepts like mutual funds, insurance, financial planning, wealth management and so on.

How does it feel to receive such an appreciation like 40 under 40 awards? After having this feather added to your cap, are you reeling under the pressure of increased responsibilities towards achieving your goals?

The appreciation like 40 Under 40 is a reminder that there lies a huge responsibility on oneself to continue doing the hard work to educate India financially. I am humbled by the generosity of the jury to have selected me. It’s a testimony to the fact that we’re moving in the right direction of leveraging technology to spread financial education and financial literacy.

Where do you see your firm after 5 years?

We’re currently serving 500 thousand verified registered learners. We wish to impact the financial well being of 10 million people over the next 5 years. We also wish to penetrate deeply to the real Bharat by building content in all major vernacular languages of India. We also have a dream to build online BFSI university.

What’s your mantra for success and what’re your suggestions for the aspiring Edupreneurs?

Listen to your users very seriously. They will give you insights to help you build an amazing product. Over time you will build great intuition in building a great product, but never stop listening to your customers.

Educating people is a very noble profession. When you leverage technology, your reach goes to a very different scale. That makes your responsibility much larger. Be empathetic to the end-users’ need. You need to design your product, delivery mechanism and content format to suit the needs of your target audience.
