DU Releases First Cut-Off List

Delhi University has released the first cut-off list for admission to various undergraduate courses on Tuesday. The DU cut-off has been released for the commencing academic session and a drop in the minimum required marks has been witnessed compared to the last year, according to India Today.

This year, the highest cut off is 98.75 percent for BA (Programme) in Lady Shri Ram College. Further, Delhi College of Arts and Commerce has demanded 98.5 percent in BA (Hons) in Journalism. For science stream, the highest cut-off is 98 percent for BSc (Hons) in Physics in Hindu College.

For general category, Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) has demanded 97.75 and 98.50 percent for BCom Honours and BA Hons in Economics respectively.

However, last week, the Delhi University officials told the colleges to keep the cut-offs realistic. “On analyzing data of the past few years, we saw that hardly 20% of all seats are filled in the first three cut-off lists. Through the interface, colleges can check cut-offs and determine their own list. This is only advisory in nature,” said M K Pandit, chairman of the admission advisory committee, according to The Indian Express. Based on the cut off for St. Stephens, it can be predicted that the cut-offs for Humanities and Commerce courses may increase by a few points in comparison to last year. The cut-offs for Science stream may either decrease or remain the same as last year.
