Delhi University To End Post Graduate Reservation Policy

Delhi University students may not be able to enjoy fifty percent reservation policy in the varsity's post-graduate seats from the coming academic year. DU's academic board on Thursday chose to hold entrance tests for all PG admissions.

The decision will now be sent to the VC for his approval. Till now, half of PG seats were put aside for DU's college students who were conceded on merit. Entrance tests were held for whatever is left of the seats, for which DU students could likewise appear. An officer from the university states that"Presently the academic council is wanting to make it centralized for holding entrance tests for every one of the 45 PG courses".

While DU is making more democratic, Jamia Millia ( A Central University) has a long tradition of reservation criteria, a certain percentage of seats in Jamia Millia are reserved for Muslims, Persons with Disabilities, Kashmiri migrants and more. However, Jamia Millia declares that all admissions of the reserved category will be done based on the candidate’s rank in JEE Main 2018 along with the reservation criteria of the University.  Also, Some seats are reserved for internal students of Jamia Millia Islamia University. 

Interestingly, As per the Reservation Policy of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) too, 50% seats of 36 Professional courses (Mainly Post Graduate Courses) have been reserved for Internal candidates, out of which most are said to be from Muslim minority alone.
