The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Saturday declared the results of the Class 12th board examinations. Meghna Srivastava of Step by Step School, Noida topped the exams with a near-perfect score of 499/500. Anoushka Chandra of SAJ School, Ghaziabad stood second with 498/500(99.6%) marks.Seven students have been placed in the third position by scoring 497 marks out of 500.
Girls have fared better than boys. The overall pass percentage is 88.31% for girls and for boys it is 78.99%.The overall pass percentage has increased substantially despite the removal of the marks moderation policy. The pass percentage this year is 83.01%, as opposed to 2017 when the pass percentage was 82.2%.The percentage of students who appeared for the exam outside of India stood at 94.94%.Thiruvananthapuram has recorded the highest pass percentage (97.32%) followed by Chennai (93.87%) and Delhi.
“All the best to the students who appeared in Class 12 CBSE exams. However, treat the result with equanimity. These exams are not the end of the world. Pat yourself on the back if you have done well. Any perceived failure should make you even more determined to succeed in future.” tweeted Anil Swarup, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India.
The results are available on cbseresults.nic.in, cbse.nic.in, results.nic.in, Microsoft Bing, Google and Microsoft SMS Organizer. Students can check their result on the website using their roll number, school number and centre number. A statement from the board said that the post-result CBSE counselling began today and will continue till June 9, from 8 am to 10 pm on all days.
