CISCE Revises Class 10th and 12th Passing Marks From 2019
Board examination is approaching fast and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has decided to revise the passing marks for the students of class 10th and 12th board examination, from 2019 however to be at par with the other boards in the country.
The minimum passing criteria has been revised and brought down for both the ICSE and ISC board to bring parity in students passing from different boards.
Gerry Arathoon, chief executive and secretary of CISCE said, “The Council has participated in numerous meetings with the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, along with the other Examination Boards of the country and was nominated to be a member of the Inter-Board Working Group (IBWG) to discuss various examination related matters and make recommendations accordingly.”
Gerry Arathoon told all heads of affiliated schools, “Among many recommendations made by the Inter-Board Working Group (IBWG), it was suggested that all boards in the country should have the same pass marks criteria.”
The change in the marks criteria will be effective from 2019 and the passing marks for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) class 10 exams have been reduced from 35 percent to 33 percent, while passing marks have been brought down by five percent from 40 percent to 35 percent for Indian School Certificate (ISC) class 12 examination.
The minimum passing marks for classes 9th and 11th have also been reduced corresponding to the board exams. The new passing marks for class 9 will be 33 percent and the same for class 11th will be 35 percent.
