BW Education highlights toppers' success stories across the country
Shiren Kaul, a student from Amity International School, Sector 46 Noida, shared, "She studied Commerce with maths in XI and XII grade, scoring 100 in both maths and economics. She shared about her preparation journey and the strategy for a perfect score and since the beginning, my main focus was always to achieve complete conceptual clarity, even if it required some additional reading. My teachers would go above and beyond to ensure all my queries and doubts are answered. This helped me tackle every type of question for my exams and also ensured my interest in the subject.” She also shared about her mantra to cope up with stress and said, “ Frankly, I was not under much stress during my examinations as I had already given ample mocks. Moreover, a balanced schedule should always include time for hobbies and friends which will help one to cope up with stress.”
Siddhant Singhania, a student from Shiv Nadar School, Noida, shared, “I have studied science and scored 98.5 per cent. While preparing for exams I knew that Physics, Chemistry and Maths were my strong subjects, so I mainly focused on English and CS at the start. For English, I relied on practice tests at the school and question banks from different resources. For CS, I primarily used NCERT and practised coding. For my practice in Physics, Chemistry and Maths, I mainly did previous year question papers and to cope up with stress I talked to my friends, listened to music, and often watched movies.”
Akash Anand, a student from GD Goenka Public School, Dwarka, shared, “I studied science and scored 98 per cent. While preparing for exams, I didn't had a strict routine like many other students do. Mine mostly involved waking up early in the morning, watching a couple of one-shot videos on the topics I had decided to study the night before, solving questions on those topics and occasionally testing myself by solving sample question papers. I always made sure to get enough sleep and breaks in the middle of studying sessions because I can't concentrate otherwise. If I'm being honest, achieving over 95 per cent was never my goal. My aim was to delve into topics that intrigued me. Learning has always been the priority, not just chasing grades. However, if I were to offer a strategy for effective studying, it would be summed up in one word: consistency. People often exaggerate the difficulty of XII grade, particularly in science. It's not as challenging as people think, it's quite manageable if you have good teachers and the patience to learn. Even dedicating 3-4 hours a day, a month before exams, can yield excellent results. Nonetheless, I want to emphasise that focusing solely on marks should never be your aim and to cope up with stress, I didn’t put much thought into that. What kept me going the most was the thought of exams finally being over. But jokes aside, I simply enjoyed studying what interested me, delving into new concepts and understanding how things worked. That was encouragement enough for me.”
Samarth Goel, a student of Sachdeva Public School, Rohini, New Delhi shared, 'I studied commerce and scored 96.8 per cent and while preparing for exams I knew that accounts and economics were my strong subjects, so I mainly focused on Maths and business studies at the start. For English, I relied on question banks from different resources. For economics and business studies I primarily used NCERT . For my practice in accounts and maths, I mainly did previous year question papers and to cope up with stress I talked to my friends, listened to music and often went on scooty rides with my friends.”
Deepak Maggu, a student of Central Convent Senior Secondary School, Patti, Amritsar, shared, “I studied medical and have scored 86.4 per cent overall and 90 and 85 marks in chemistry and biology respectively and while preparing for exams I knew that my chemistry and biology were strong, so I mainly focused on physics, I relied on practice tests at the school and question banks from different resources. For biology, I primarily used NCERT and practised coding. For my practice in physics, chemistry and biology, I mainly did previous year question papers and to cope up with stress I talked to my friends, listened to music and often watched movies.”
Aryan Kalra, a student from Amity International School, Sector 46, shared, "he studied Humanities and had scored 97.8 per cent in class XII board examinations, which includes scores of 99 per cent in 3 subjects: English, Psychology and Economics. For achieving a high score, I practised the strategy of making notes and of reading them multiple times. I also practised a variety of questions and worked on my presentation skills and to cope up with stress I tried to keep my day as balanced as possible. Getting enough sleep and some form of physical activity everyday helped me deal with exam stress.”
Aditya Shankar, a student from Amity International School, Sector 46 Noida, shared, “I studied science and had scored perfect 100 in Painting with 100 and 99 in Mathematics and Chemistry respectively. I want to pursue aeronautics and aerospace engineering from the top college in the world. I have got an offer from Imperial College of London, Bristol university, Bath University and also from Leeds University UK. I have been focused on the aim to score the highest score and at least top the school. I had been consistent in topping the science stream in 11th all exams and XIIth all exams. Regular focused study and setting targets has helped me a lot and playing with friends, meditation, prayers and spending quality time with family helped me to cope up with the stress and pressure.”
Ruhi Batra, a student from GD Goenka Public School, Dwarka, shared that, “I studied commerce and had scored 97 per cent in class XII CBSE board exams. While preparing for exams, I initially attempted a few sample papers in order to know my weak points and then focused on those topics. I began by first solving the textbook questions which I found easy and then gradually eased into the difficult ones. I also made a schedule of solving sample papers on specific days for each subject to have a clear direction and to cope up with stress I kept myself positive and confident. I believed in myself. I used to take regular breaks to unwind myself and used to listen to my favourite music, go for walks, and enjoy baking once in a while. My family was very supportive and I used to spend time with them.”
Nehal Grover, a student from GD Goenka Public School, Dwarka, shared, “I studied humanities and scored 98 per cent and while preparing for exams, I prefered to study late hours when there is no disturbance from family & screen. I studied for 8-10 hours per day according to the subject I was studying on a particular day. I made a rotating schedule for studying wherein I studied difficult topics & my favourite subjects simultaneously. I used to take short breaks in between the study sessions wherein I used to either play with my brother or watch the screen to refresh my mind. My strategy was to stay consistent from the start, understand the concepts thoroughly, listen to teachers carefully in the class, clarify all the doubts in time & practice by writing so that I can refer to the notes anytime. For a few difficult topics, I would make my younger brother sit in front of me & explain to him the topic (although it was very difficult for him to understand) which helped me to better understand the topic and to cope up with stress I would try to resolve anything that caused stress instantly. I took breaks while studying and made sure I never overwhelmed myself at any point with the amount of studying I had to do. I picked up one thing at a time. I never had a single ounce of doubt on my capabilities & decision to select humanities as my main subject even after scoring high grades in class X. My family always encouraged me to study as per my interest and motivated me throughout my XII class to work hard. So everything was seamless for me.”
Ashutosh Sundresh, a student from Shiv Nadar School, Faridabad, shared, “I have studied commerce and scored 97.25 per cent. I prepared for my Class XII boards by creating a structured study schedule of 1 chapter per subject every day 1 month before the exam, thoroughly revising theory from NCERT and solving sample papers. Consistency is important and I studied for at least 3 hours every day the whole year and picked up the pace when the boards started to draw near. I am immensely grateful to my teachers for their unwavering support and guidance throughout my preparation for the Class XII board exams through extra online classes and other resources like chapter summaries.”
Aanya Patra, a student from Shiv Nadar School, Gurgaon, shared, I studied humanities and had scored 96.6 per cent. While preparing for exams she said, “ I did not commit to any specific preparation routine or strategy to achieve a perfect score, one key to getting good scores was consistency and the ability to persevere through all your failures and setbacks. I remember not scoring well before in the 11th grade, but back then, I had yet to discover the importance of staying consistent and the value of having a strong belief that you will succeed. Another thing I recommend is not making self-deprecating comments, even as a way to cope; it subconsciously holds a person back and makes you spiral and believe in false outcomes. I am indebted to my teachers for their constant guidance, faith in me, and unwavering support and to cope up with stress I found a loophole that was to avoid the urge to do other productive acts of self-care, such as going on a walk or treating myself to eat something nice by urging and resetting my brain to help me keep doing the work consistently. I am grateful to my parents for being a pillar of support to help me achieve my success.”
Aditya Singh, a student of Sachdeva Public School, Rohini, New Delhi shared, “I studied science and have scored 96.4 per cent overall and perfect 100 in chemistry, 98 in C.S, and 95, 95, 94 in Physics, Mathematics and English respectively. While preparing for board exams, I mostly prepared chapter-wise, but along with that a thorough analysis of PYQ’s and previous papers in recent times. It’s important to have practice for each type of question in order to not waste any time during the exam. Moreover, preach quality over quantity, rather than racing to complete 100 mocks, make sure you have understood every question in NCERT first and to cope up with stress I did regular exercise, going out for some fresh air after each study session, making time for friends, family and music were the ways I coped up with the stress and burn-out.”
Khushi Sharma, a student of Sachdeva Public School, Rohini, New Delhi shared, “I studied humanities and have scored 95.4 per cent and while preparing I knew that English, Political Science and Informatics Practices were my strong subjects so I focused my attention more on psychology and geography. For both the subjects I completely relied on NCERT. For psychology I focused on concept clarification and ensured that I was well versed with the concept, for geography I focused on the keywords. I tried solving numerous sample papers and to cope up with stress I spent time with my family and watched movies.”
Navdeep Kaur, a student of Central Convent Senior Secondary School, Patti, Amritsar, shared, “I studied humanities and have scored 83.2 per cent overall and scored 86 and 85 marks in English and Economics respectively. While preparing for exams I crafted a well-structured study schedule, set realistic goals and used active learning techniques. Didn’t use an excess number of books, one or two was sufficient to study. Solved previous years' question papers which helped me understand the exam format, important topics and time management. To cope up with stress I talked to my friends, listened to music, played outdoor games and also did exercise daily.”
Harmandeep Kaur, a student of Central Convent Senior Secondary School, Patti, Amritsar, shared, “I studied commerce and had scored 81.4 per cent overall and 94 and 91 marks in Accountancy and Physical education respectively. While preparing for exams I attempted sample papers and previous year question papers for better results. During the time of solving sample papers all I had to do was set a timer of 3 hours. This helped me in increasing the speed and also improved the writing. I also wrote quick notes of every chapter after learning and tried to solve every question in written form and to cope up with stress I spent some time with my family , listened to music and did regular exercise.”
