CAT 2017: Time Management Is The Key To Success

The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2017, conducted by the Indian Institute of Management - Lucknow is scheduled to be held on 26 November. With just few days to go for the prestigious exam, most of you would be in your last leg of preparation. Here we bring to you some important last-minute tips.

1.    Revise all the topics
You might already have completed the syllabus at least once. Try to revise all the concepts once again. CAT exam preparation plan is all about having clear concepts, strong fundamentals and improving your weak areas, speed and accuracy by constant and consistent practice. Keeping this in mind, spend some extra time on your weak areas.

2.    Take multiple Mock Tests
Use this time to take as many CAT mock tests as you can. Analysis of these mocks is even more important. This will not only help you identify your weak areas, determine your speed and accuracy and build an attempted strategy but will also familiarize and prepare you for the online CAT 2017 Exam environment.

Also, taking mock tests at the same time as your actual exam slot trains your mind to be more alert and thus will help you perform better.

3.    Time Management
Do time management while practising for the Exam questions. This will help you increase your speed and solve problems quickly.

4.    Focus On Accuracy
As much as it is important to solve questions quickly, it is also equally important to solve them accurately. CAT exam has negative marking and therefore, you should try to achieve 100 per cent accuracy while solving. This becomes achievable with regular practice and analysis of performance. Platforms like Oliveboard lets candidates practice mock tests and do an analysis of each mock attempt.

5.    Build Your Confidence
It's very important to have a calm head during the exam. While exam stress and panic are very natural, try to overcome it with adequate practice and revision beforehand. Be confident about your preparation and keep this in mind that you will be able to perform better with a calm mind.

Few Don'ts that you must avoid
"    Avoid learning new concepts or shortcuts in the last few days
"    Don't strain yourself before the exam. Make sure that you sleep well and eat healthily
"    Avoid guesswork during the exam. Answer only when you are confident about it.

Finally, try to stay away from exam stress as much you can. Get enough sleep and food before the exam, take breaks between preparation and chat with friends and family to calm yourself.

All the best!
