It was not a planned venture, it happened incidentally says Malar, whose platform has more than one million subscribers today. "I was running an English-coaching centre in Rajapalayam, my native and it was doing good business. Due to health concerns, I was not able to take classes for 3 months. The students stopped coming to our centre. I lost everything when I came back. I thought about scaling up my business and I had to put in a lot of hours to strategically plan to take it to the next level. So due to time constraints, I couldn’t handle classes all by myself and I started to hire other tutors to handle classes. At the same time, I was specific about the experience my students gain. They all wanted to attend only my class, which was not possible during the expansion phase. That’s when the idea of using YouTube originated. In fact, it was an idea suggested by my students who were working overseas. They were the ones who insisted I make videos and upload them on YouTube so that they could learn at their own pace. It was an awesome idea and only after becoming a creator do I realise now that I am teaching thousands of people around the world. And that’s how the journey began," says Malar on starting her journey as an education content creator.

Joncey Rathnam Golia

From a nobody to a somebody that's what defines her as a teacher. Her father died when she was a kid. It was her mother who worked hard and brought up four wonderful kids. She is the youngest out of the four, she had her own share of struggles during her childhood which made her sensible towards others facing difficulties. She grew up in a boarding school. She missed meeting her mom daily. She rather had a disciplined childhood. She struggled with her studies. She wasn’t a top scorer, but one day, her teacher spoke to her mom. She was in grade 6 then. She took a step forward to help her. She gave up her lunch hours to teach her till she started getting herself better. She completed her schooling and college. This was way back in 2013. As she completed her BA, she joined a private firm, but she wasn’t happy there. Then she thought about her teacher, she always told her 'Rise above the clouds'. Her sister was a teacher and she would visit her school. She then decided to nurture kids. She completed her TTC and BEd and joined The Heritage School, Kolkata. She started her journey into teaching. She got married and shifted to Goa, she gave up her job in Kolkata. Another new phase of her life is when she joined Vedantu. Seeing happy faces in the classroom helped her to get my passion back.

Rabiya Shariff N

In 2016 I became an MTech degree holder plus a mom of a few months baby. I could not go to work anywhere as there are no one whom I can rely on to take care of my baby. I had to wait till she becomes 4 years. I searched for many online jobs on many online websites. But it was hard to get one. I finally got in a place but always faced salary issues. I was paid very less and I had to call multiple times for salary. I have even cried many times at home and prayed to God to get me a stable and genuine job as I was feeling that though I have studied so much I am not able to get a job. I was in debt of nearly 3 lakh and then God heard my prayers and I got selected at Vedantu which I still say thank you to God all the time. I cleared my debt and one more reason is I won’t be able to work offline at colleges as my husband is orthodox and he won’t like me working, I had tears of joy when I got this job in hand. I wish and pray that I don't lose this job.

Mairan Zargar

Back in 2017, he was doing a regular corporate job after his Engineering in Delhi NCR. Despite earning well, he always felt like the most unsuccessful individual and empty as a person all because of his work which he was totally unhappy with. This sense of unfulfillment led me him to negativity and low self-esteem. He got frustrated like hell. Nothing good seemed to be good to him. However, he was afraid to quit his regular 9-5 job and start with teaching as being a teacher was something he always wanted to be for quite a long time. In the middle of 2019, he made a very hard decision of quitting his job and starting everything new as a teacher only. But soon after he came back, Article 370 got scrapped and the entire state was put under a curfew with no internet and no cell phone (calling) service for months. It was very hard and shook him from the inside out. No tuition could be taken nor any school. Then in 2020 he got a few children coming to his home and the least he could say is he was very happy being with them believing he is capable of changing their lives and of even more to come in near future. Yet again as it's a saying 'man proposes God disposes', Covid hit badly in March. But this time he was not divested at all as till then he knew he got what it takes to be there. All that was concerning to him were his teaching skills to get better and better, sharp and sharper each day, so for that, he tried with every podcast on teaching all the books he can get based on teaching and even watching all possible Hollywood movies based on teaching some of them were from 1890's 1970's and he must admit they were hell boring but yet with great messages that he took his notes from. In 2021, for months he was thinking of giving it a try for online teaching but for some reason, he felt like it was too early. In November only he decided to give it a shot and uploaded a video attached with his resume to Vedantu. Luckily, he got a call after exactly 20 days.

Akriti SachdevaThough teaching is her passion, she never wanted to be a teacher. She desperately wanted to become an IAS officer. But it's rightly said nobody is ahead luck. At an early age of 10 years, she lost her father and being the eldest sibling (she has 2 younger sisters) after her Papa, she had to take care of her Mom and younger sisters. Her Mumma got a job just a few months back after her Papa's death in a school as a library assistant but her pay wasn't enough to feed them as well as teach them. However, her struggle and her maternal relatives support is commendable. Somehow her mother taught her in an English medium school till 9 and then she realised it was not possible to afford an English medium after 10. But she wanted to do her +2 in that school itself. And it was the time when she stood up and took the decision to earn for not only for her own education but also for her younger sisters. She still remember it was June 9, 2009, when she got her first tuition when she was in Class 10 herself for just Rs 250 per month. This is how her journey started. As the days passed, she got more involved in teaching. One after another she started getting more and more tuitions. By the time of graduation, she got so popular in her locality that she never had to look back. Today, her Mom is proud of her that she is a self-made person not only supporting her sisters in getting education but helping others in getting education too. The age when her friends were involved in enjoying their adulting, she was engrossed in fulfilling her responsibilities as a son. And in between this, her passion became her career and she became a teacher by choice.
