Any Business Idea Comes From A Problem

Q. Tell us about you and your businesses.

I am an edu-entrepreneur with two successful and awarded early learning schools in Delhi and Gurugram. My mission is to work towards creating awareness around the significance of early childhood education. My schools utilize innovative methodologies for delivery of education for children from the age of 18 months to 4.5 years.

Q. How did the idea for your business come about and what inspired you to start your venture in this particular domain?

My wife and I were looking for a preschool for our first child. Unable to find a preschool with quality learning practices, we decided to do our own bit of research to set up an early learning school for our daughter which we all know as Wonderland now. Our daughter was the first admission in the school.

Q. What has been your key driving force to become an entrepreneur?

It is rewarding when you know you are able to bring a change and give back to the society. To be able to introduce as an apt & effective solution for a grave problem is the key driving force.

Q. Tell us more about the industry and the competition. It would be great if you can share some market trends in the industry.

Early childhood care and education industry is a niche industry. The preschool market in India is going to grow at a CAGR of around 23% during 2017 - 2022. This is because of the increase in awareness around early education among young parents and a growing number of working parents. Early education players are moving away from operating only as a childcare facility, or a creche. Scientific studies and technology have come to aid for new parents to trust their child’s early years’ growth and development.

Q. What kinds of challenges have you faced in founding your company and in the subsequent time period? How did you overcome these difficulties?

An efficient early learning centre highly depends on its leadership team, its infrastructure and the right marketing technique for its day to day operations and teaching practices. Finding the right team for the school was a huge challenge for us. We took months to form our team. For infrastructure, we were dependent on industry studies and standards, but finding the best and trustworthy vendor partners was another task for us. You will be surprised to know that we have only been relying on online and physical word of mouth marketing for our schools.

Q. Do you have any plan to expand your business in India and beyond?

I do plan to expand and touch more lives and offer high-quality learning centres to all the new parents. A lot of things are in the pipeline right now and will soon emerge. Stay tuned!

Q. Are there any takeaways from your journey that you would like to share with our readers?

It is wonderful to see how most of us aspire to become a businessman. I continue to learn from my experience and journey. I would like to share this little piece of advice with everyone- a business idea always comes from a problem. It is true in our case and I am sure that’s what most of us get our business ideas from. Do not think of an idea, think of the issue you would like to solve. We must look at the world around us to find a solution to not justs ourselves but for everyone. Building your core team is the most essential part of your start-up idea. Look for people who have diverse experience and are well-traveled. These people will bring fresh ideas with them. Lastly, we must move with time and should be open to explore the latest technology and trends in our areas of work.
