Amity University Celebrates World Physiotherapy Week

Amity University Noida's Amity Institute of Health and Allied Sciences is celebrating World Physiotherapy Week 2024 from 10-12 September, promoting the importance of physiotherapy through expert discussions and health camps.

Amity Institute of Health and Allied Sciences, Amity University Noida, is observing World Physiotherapy Week 2024 from 10 -12 September 2024, to commemorate World Physiotherapy Day, 2024.

Addressing the students, Ruchi Varshney, National Head, Indian Association of Physiotherapists, Women Cell, averred, “In most of the cases, physiotherapy is not the first choice of students and they opt for it as a second choice when they get rejected in mainstream medical entrance exams. However, physiotherapy should be given equal importance as other streams of health and allied sciences. It is a holistic and scientifically backed way of treating dysfunctions of a human body.” Advising the students, she added, “Instead of asking what my institution is giving me, students must always aim to give back to the institution by performing well in their studies and bringing laurels to their institution and profession.”

Sharing his views on World Physiotherapy Day, Ashish Deshwal, Member Delhi Council for Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy, New Delhi, stated, “WHO has declared Lower Back Pain as an epidemic, which affects about 60-70 per cent of the world’s population and it is a myth that only long sitting postures lead to lower back pain. Vitamin deficiency, lack of regular exercise and strenuous physical activity also causes lower back pain.  Physiotherapy is completely harmless, non-invasive and is very effective in treating back pain and patients who go for regular physiotherapy sessions benefit immensely from the treatment.”

On this occasion, a Panel Discussion on “Low Back Pain” was also held wherein the expert panellists including Ruchi Varshney, National Head, IAP Women Cell; Khyatee, Director, Pratyaksh Medical Care and Jasobanta Sethi, Director, AIHAS, amongst others, shared their valuable insights. In addition, a “Back and Neck Pain Assessment and Management Camp” and “Women’s Health and Lifestyle Management Camp” was also set up at Amity University wherein students and faculty got their check-ups done.
