22 National Mathematics Olympiad Workshop, organised for Pan India school students of Class VI to Class XII, from May 18 to 24, 2024, concluded at Amity University. The aim of this workshop was to encourage young students to strive for excellence in science and mathematics, to develop their skills and nurture their talent.
Addressing the gathering during the Valedictory Ceremony, Amita Chauhan, Chairperson Amity International Schools, stated, “Amity not only provides education to the students but also encourages them to innovate and develop new products and technologies, which are beneficial for the society and country. Many Amity students have founded their own-start-ups and are constantly working on new innovations, thereby contributing significantly to Viksit Bharat@2047. Amity’s vision aligns with the vision of the parents who want to see their children as a great success story and a dedicated team of teachers, directors and principals of Amity leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the students fulfil their dreams and also contribute to nation building.”
Speaking on the occasion, Guest of Honour, Neeraj Sinha, Advisor & Scientist “G”. The Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Govt of India, said, “It is very heartening to see that Amity is making brilliant efforts to nurture the students and shape them into the best future leaders. A country becomes successful only through scientific and technological development, therefore, it is imperative that students develop a scientific temperament, and the institutions must provide them a conducive environment to develop their skills.” He called upon the students to remain true to themselves and not to be driven by package, rather to be driven by education, and money will follow.
Lauding the workshop, Ravi Verma, father of a participating student said, “I was completely mesmerised by the quality of the education and training provided by the teachers of Amity during the workshop. Through this workshop, my daughter has been able to develop immense self-confidence and learning aptitude, therefore it was the right decision made by us to enrol her in this workshop full of knowledge and learning.”
Guest of Honour, Meena Mishra, Director, SSPL DRDO, opined, “Knowing about the various programs and activities undertaken by Amity and accomplishments of Amity students was an eye opener for me. Amity is making remarkable efforts to groom the students not only at higher education level but also at school level, which is commendable. The government is investing a lot in semiconductors, and other related areas; therefore, there are unlimited opportunities in science and technology for the students.” She called upon the students to drop the fear of failure and be completely determined to do whatever they want to achieve in life.
Sharing her experience of participating in the Olympiad, Vanshika Rao, a student of Class XII, Ahlcon Public School, said, “It was a memorable and enriching experience for me to participate in this workshop. The constant support and guidance provided by the teachers helped me in polishing my skills and developing problem-solving abilities. I also enjoyed the extra-curricular activities and yoga sessions during my week- long stay at Amity.”
Delivering the Welcome Address, Meenakshi Rawal, Director, Amity Institute For Competitive Examinations, said, “The week-long Maths Olympiad organised for students of class 6 to 12 at Amity University campus, was immensely beneficial for all the students who participated and we are grateful to the parents of the children who had faith in us and made the best decision to enrol their children in this workshop.”
During the Valedictory Ceremony, the winners of the International Olympiad and Global Talent Search Examination (GTSE) were awarded. Also present on the occasion were Shri Arun Chauhan, Trustee RBEF, Dr. W. Selvamurthy President ASTIF, Dr. Gurinder Singh Group Vice Chancellor Amity Universities, senior Amity officials, principals, teachers, parents, and students.
