From the deepest of traditions dating back thousands of years to the rapidly changing, fast-paced environment that is constantly innovating & pushing the limits of what is possible. Embark on a voyage to Tokyo and Kyoto where you will discover the history of Japanese fashion. 

The 10-day workshop - “The Fashion Residency, Japan” will take you on a journey through the realm of fashion and how the present day industry works, gaining insights on fashion business, communication & design whilst also networking with local industry experts. From the flooded fashion streets of Harajuku that represent the innumerable subcultures of Japan. Tokyo as we know it has given the world some of the most reputed fashion experts. Whilst the rest of Japan moves forward, the beauty of Kyoto, a city of artisans will leave you wandering through places like the Kyoto Costume Institute where you will be lost in a world of detailed design, fashion at its absolute finest.

The Residency is an end to end education workshop providing you tasks and goals specially curated to help your creative side to evolve. Upon completion of the residency, you're given lifelong access to what we call “ALT PLATFORM”, enabling you to keep in touch with industry experts & their teams from all the residencies. The platform is your career support system, creating a community of exceptionally talented individuals. A privilege exclusively for ALT-101 mavericks! 

You will experience various networking sessions - Meet & interact with locals, make lifelong connections. Collaborate on interesting ideas, and learn about their culture through their eyes. Engage in museum tours, visit factories and local artisans and of course, meet industry experts that keep the fashion domain alive opens up a world of opportunity for you.

Sayesha Sachdev is a motivated entrepreneur working hard to raise the bar of how we should be educated in India. At only 21 years old, she is a remarkable person with an exemplary touch for finesse. She has recently set-up a new education platform called ALT – 101, that designs alternative learning experiences with nomadic residencies which is a bold and fresh take on the current learning narrative. ALT 101 is a platform created that stems from her love for travel, unquenchable thirst for knowledge and memories of her childhood in school. 

Her drive is to inspire people everywhere and look at creative learning from a fresh perspective. Sayesha believes the current model of learning is outdated where being confined within four walls is a very alien concept that is screaming for an upgrade. Her experience in school is what led her to spearhead in developing a creative approach to learning. She believes that increased practical learning triumphs theoretical based education. The latter was Sayesha’s biggest battle through her school years but encouraged her to go out and follow her passion. A ‘structural change in learning’ allowed her to understand its benefits towards mental health and gave her an opportunity to share this experience with individuals around her.

Sayesha is a fashion designer- entrepreneur with a demonstrated history of working in the marketing and advertising industry. Sayesha works on two ethical and sustainable fashion lines a year. She also extends her marketing expertise and consults 5 brands. Part-time foodie and mental health activist, Sayesha tends to follow her heart. She is assertive, pragmatic- a wild mind with a disciplined eye.
