NEET examination and its preparation is something that is dreaded by most of the students due to the huge loads of subjects. For all those who are appearing in their dropper years, things won't be quite easy even though if they have covered all the syllabus and appeared for mock tests.
NEET Preparation Tips for Droppers
1. Understanding The Reason!
It's always difficult to find the reason for something you have failed, especially if it's something that you wanted to pass. But don't make that feeling conquer you, it's okay to be afraid but don't sink into it. Acceptance of your failures goes a long way, and it also helps in starting things with a fresh and bright mind.
If you are incapable of accepting the fear of losing and accepting your failure, you won't be able to concentrate on your next moves, thus leading to consequent failures. Thus the choice is yours.
2. Failures Are A Stepping Stone To Success
Make a list of things that you avoided in your first exam and do it this time. Failing never means that it is a stop sign for you. Try new tactics and new ways to seek solutions for handling the questions. Revise all your subjects once again. If possible make a to-do list each day and make sure you tick all the boxes by the end of the night.
3. A New Perspective
This is the right time for seeking guidance. Since you are already familiar with the important parts of the syllabus and the pattern of examination, it’s easy to get the desired mark this time. But make sure that you have a mentor with you. Having a mentor would help you to gain a new perspective about the exam, thus helping you to start afresh.
4. Change The Plan
Stick to your plan; if needed, make a new one. For those who are droppers their time in coaching, institutions would be longer than others. Include that time in your timetable and make sure you do your self-study for at least 4-5 hours.
Self-study is important even though you have enrolled yourself in any reputed coaching institution as it helps you to revise what you have studied and get new information.
5. Be And Stay Positive
It's usual for people to criticize and compare dropper students to those who passed on their first trial. But amidst all their harsh words, stay positive and don't compare yourself to others. The only person you should compare yourself to is you. Make sure that you are improving positively. If needed, seek guidance from those who know this field. Take care of your health both mentally and physically.
6. Complete The Map
While preparing for your dropper years, make sure that you don't repeat the same topics that you once studied. Complete the topics that you left out the previous year. Take notes and clear the doubts that you had in the previous year. In the first half of your dropper year, your primary focus should be on that topic that you are not strong in. But at the same time, make sure you keep the balance between the topics and don't over revise stuff.
For the second half, it's all about revision and repetition.
Mock Test: The Final Saviour
Everyone knows the importance of the mock test, but many don't do it in the haste of covering their syllabus. While you were preparing for your exams in the last six months, make sure that you at least wrote a minimum of 2-3 mock tests.
Mock tests help you to understand the way the questions would be framed and the time you should spend on each question. It gives you the taste of questions of various kinds hence preparing you for the toughest questions. Other than that many questions are always asked on repetition, thus without doubt you would be able to get score marks on those questions. Hope you get the best marks!
