The Karnataka Model School Pathways Programme (KMSPP), led by Nikhil Kamath, is transforming the educational landscape in Karnataka by overhauling over 210 schools and co-located anganwadis/preschools across Tumkur, Davangere, Haveri, Yadgir and Chitradurga by the 2025-26 academic year.
Nikhil Kamath, a prominent Indian business and philanthropist, has driven the Young India Philanthropic Pledge (YIPP), raising significant resources to impact over 45,000 students, 1,100 teachers, and various education and administrative officials across Karnataka. The initiative is supported by the Government of Karnataka and Sattva.
The KMSPP has made significant progress in school transformation over the past year and a half, focusing on digital and physical infrastructure enhancement, 21st-century skills integration, science and STEM education, FLN programmes, career counseling, reintegrating irregular students and providing capacity-building programmes for teachers and district officials.
KMSPP's child-first approach has significantly improved student performance, with increased access to WASH facilities, libraries and ICT labs. Proficiency in basic FLN competencies has increased by 11.3 per cent and over 95 per cent of students have engaged with scientific concepts through science kits. Career counseling and 21st-century competencies are also actively encouraged among high school students.
The KMSPP's educational reforms are paving the way for potential replication across other schools in Karnataka, aiming to provide quality education and opportunities for every child to thrive.
