STL, an optical and digital solutions company, has launched the RoboEdge Programme (AI Robotics Education Programme) to skill 5000 students in rural Maharashtra with advanced technology skills. The programme is being conducted across 11 schools in Maharashtra and Dadra Nagar Haveli, with the aim of building next-gen skills for students in underserved communities. The programme was launched in partnership with Robotex India, a non-profit organisation dedicated to bridging the digital divide.
With the aim of ‘Transforming Billions of Lives by Connecting the World,’ STL is motivated by the realisation that, especially in underprivileged areas, it is critical to empower the next generation. The Digital Equalizer and Improved Learning (DEIL) Edutech initiative, which presently serves 300 government schools in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Nandurbar and Silvassa, was the foundation for the success of STL's RoboEdge initiative.
STL and Robotex will offer best-in-class instruction on next-generation technologies through the RoboEdge curriculum, beginning with digital literacy and coding and progressing to more complex subjects like robotics and artificial intelligence. Through the integration of these technologies into the core curriculum, this initiative aims to provide underprivileged students with access to cutting-edge technology and set them up for success in the workplace.
“This programme has been designed following the directive of NEP 2020, ensuring students develop skills in digital literacy, cybersecurity, coding, AI & IoT, robotics, data science and design thinking”, Payal Rajpal, Director, Robotex India, expressed.
“We believe in the power of technology and we want to empower the next generation with problem-solving and out-of-the-box thinking. We are driving this change in government schools through our STEM, AI and Robotics programmes”, Anjali Byce, Group Chief Human Resource Officer, STL, highlighted.
