Ministry Of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Launches ‘Skill India Digital’ Platform

Dharmendra Pradhan, the Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, introduced Skill India Digital (SID) on Wednesday, a digital platform with the overarching goal of harmonising and revolutionising India's skills, education, employment and entrepreneurship landscape.

SID functions as the digital public infrastructure (DPI) dedicated to India's skill development, education, employment and entrepreneurship ecosystem. Its core vision is to infuse innovation, accessibility and personalisation into skill development, with a strong emphasis on digital technology and industry 4.0 skills. The platform aspires to be a game-changer in expediting the recruitment of skilled talents while also facilitating lifelong learning and career advancement.

Moreover, Skill India Digital is slated to serve as a comprehensive information hub for all government initiatives related to skill development and entrepreneurship.

Dharmendra Pradhan remarked, "The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has crafted an open-source platform to cater to the diverse skill needs of India's population. Skill India Digital represents another stride towards leveraging our demographic dividend and positioning India as a global hub for skills. A groundbreaking development in the realms of learning and skill enhancement, Skill India Digital is poised to make skill acquisition accessible to everyone, anytime and anywhere."

The platform's design encompasses all training programmes initiated by both central and state governments, as well as various departments. Its overarching aim is to establish a unified and centralised hub for skill development initiatives. 

Through this initiative, the government anticipates providing learners with improved access, personalised learning journeys, streamlined verification procedures and enhanced career guidance. This will empower individuals to acquire relevant skills, remain abreast of industry trends and contribute to the advancement of the country's workforce.
