IIT Mandi Wishes A Happy New Year Filled With Progress

Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) received the Green University Award at COP 28 in the UAE, showcasing institute's commitment to sustainable practices and a comprehensive approach to environmental initiatives. This recognition underscores IIT Mandi's dedication to cultivating a greener and more environmentally conscious campus.

On the academic front, the institute launched five new undergraduate programs covering General Engineering, Microelectronics and VLSI, Materials Science and Engineering, Mathematics & Computing, and Chemical Sciences.  

On the research front, In the academic year 2022-2023, the institute has published more than 400 journal papers and received 83 projects with a total grant of Rs. 21.28 crores.  Along with this, IIT Mandi is currently carrying out 158 research projects worth Rs. 87 crore.

In terms of outreach, under India's G20 Presidency, IIT Mandi hosted the G20 and S20 (Science20) Meet in June 2023, bringing together key stakeholders and experts globally to discuss themes aimed at generating actionable insights for inclusive and sustainable development. The event witnessed the participation of dignitaries and delegates from around the world. Along with this, the Institute also initiated the Yuva Sangam programme, flagging off the journey of 45 student delegates from Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh to IIT Goa. Furthermore, IIT Mandi, selected by the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, is set to host a 5G Use-case lab, established by the School of Computing and Electrical Engineering (SCEE), facilitating the development and experimentation of 5G applications across various socioeconomic verticals.

The Institute celebrated its Eleventh Convocation with 565 graduates. There was a positive trend in the graduation of female students across diverse academic streams, with a significant increase: 52 female graduates in the undergraduate program, 66 in postgraduate and masters' programmes and 14 in the PhD programme, surpassing the numbers from previous years. This accomplishment reflects IIT Mandi's commitment to fostering gender diversity and empowering women in various academic pursuits.
