India is at the forefront of a transformative wave in animation and game design. The Indian animation and VFX industry grew by 24 per cent in 2021, reaching Rs 30.5 billion. Projections show a 35 per cent annual growth between 2022 and 2023. In 2022, the industry's total value was about Rs 107 billion, with VFX contributing 50 billion. The Indian gaming industry has grown nearly 60 per cent over the last three years and it is expected to treble in value and reach $3.9 billion by 2025. The total number of online gamers grew 8 per cent from 360 million in 2020 to 390 million in 2021 2. Mobile gaming takes the largest chunk of the gaming market thanks to access to affordable smartphones growing at 15 per cent year-on-year for the past five years in India, high-speed 4G internet penetration and the world’s lowest data tariffs. Over 50 per cent of India’s population is below the age of 25 and 60 per cent of the nation’s gamers are under 25 years of age too.
