Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH) will be conducting its 31st convocation ceremony on April 6. The ceremony will be held at the university campus in Noida.
The chief guest at the ceremony will be a leading Indian economist, Dr. Rajiv Kumar, Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog, Government of India. He also serves as the Chancellor of Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics, Pune. He has wide experience of having worked in government, academia, industry as well as in multilateral institutions.
A founding director of Pahle India Foundation, a non-government research initiative, Dr. Kumar was a Senior Fellow at CPR and earlier the CEO of Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER). He has also been Chief Economist at CII and Secretary General of Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).
In the government, he was Economic Advisor with Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance and Senior Consultant at the Bureau of Industrial Costs and Prices (BICP), Ministry of Industry. He was Principal Economist at Asian Development Bank, Manila where he spent 10 years. He has also served on many Boards including that of RBI and SBI.
Dr. Kumar has a Ph.D. in Economics from Lucknow University and a D. Phil. From Oxford University. He is the author of several books on India’s economy and national security. His latest books are Modi & His Challenges (2016), Resurgent India: Ideas and Priorities (2015) and Exploding Aspirations: Unlocking India's Future (2014). He is a widely recognized economic columnist and a leading speaker on issues in Indian political economy.
BIMTECH is postgraduate business school located in Greater Noida, an education hub in the National Capital Region of India. It was established in 1988 under the aegis of the Birla Academy of Art and Culture, and supported by Birla group of companies. BIMTECH's new Bhubaneswar business school offers full-time PGDM program. Harivansh Chaturvedi is the current Director of the institute.
