Swiggy Launches Scholarship For Delivery Partners’ Children

Swiggy, food delivery platform, launches a scholarship programme called 'Swiggy Udaan' to support the educational responsibilities of their Delivery Partners.

Education is one such emotional chord that touches every parent and a desire for their kids to seek the best education. After Swiggy Smiles programme, Swiggy has introduced this new scholarship programme for the children of Delivery Partners while understanding the importance of childcare benefits for a working parent.

Shivcharan Pulugurtha, VP Business, Swiggy said, “We are constantly looking at ways to recognize and appreciate the work of our delivery partners who have shown their commitment over time. And there is nothing better than supporting their families. We wish to make education accessible to the children of our partners and Swiggy Udaan is just a small step in that direction.”

Initially launched as a pilot in Mumbai, Chennai, Kochi and Dehradun, Swiggy Udaan is a comprehensive scheme giving wings to the children of all active delivery partners who are enrolled in a government or a private school from elementary to secondary level (Nursery to Class 10).

Supporting my family’s future is one of the main reasons I get on the road every day and this scholarship for my child just helps us get one step closer to our goal,” said Sivabalan, Swiggy Delivery Partner in Chennai.

Swiggy received an overwhelming response from over 2000 delivery partners to register for the selection process in the first round of the programme. Basis the selection process, over 1,000 Delivery Partners were eligible to receive a scholarship of INR 5000 per child across the four cities. The total pay-outs in this pilot round will amount up to more than INR 50 lakhs.

I’ve been associated with Swiggy for quite some time now and It’s a good way to earn additional income. But more than that, I am grateful that they look after our family’s well-being as well.”
