Skill India Joins Hands With Ministry Of Economic Development, Maldives

In a bid to gain in-depth exposure of Skill Development Ecosystem of India, and drive greater cooperation between the two countries, representatives of the Government of India met senior officials from the government of Maldives and signed a number of MoUs.

The delegation from Maldives included Uz. Fayyaz Ismail, Minister for Economic Development; Neeza Imad, State Minister, Ministry of Economic Development; Aminath Mohamed Saleem, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Economic Development and other senior officials from the Ministry of Economic Development, Maldives.

Other members included senior officials from the Business Centre Corporation, Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Tourism as well as the Ambassador of Maldives to India.

The contingent met Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Mahendra Nath Pandey, and other key officials of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and MSDE.

Apart from signing an MoU for providing support for strengthening the Technical and Vocational skilling in the Maldives, there was also an in-depth discussion on the skilling infrastructure and ecosystem in India and all the efforts being made by NSDC towards improving it.

The countries agreed to extend cooperation in training and skilling in a number of sectors including agriculture, IT, tourism and fisheries. Other areas of support would include entrepreneurship, apprenticeship and training of trainers.
