Placements Zoom At IIT Guwahati With 302 Offers

Placements at IIT Guwahati are going strong for 2019-20 with a total of 302 offers made so far. The institute has received offers from companies like Microsoft (19 offers), Uber, Goldman Sachs (9 offers), JPMC (9 offers), IBM, Nutanix, American Express, Quadeye, Oracle (14 offers), Bajaj, Google, etc on the second day of campus recruitment. These offers are for SDE, Analyst, Systems Engineer, Product Engineer, Analog/Digital Engineer, Engineer Trainee, etc. job profiles. 

Speaking about placements, Rakhesh Singh Kshetrimayum, Head, Career Development Centre, IIT Guwahati, said, “Besides domestic offers, we have several international offers this time, the number of international offers has already surpassed double the last year’s total in Day 2 itself.”

The Institute also received a total of 20 international offers from companies like Microsoft, Uber, Accenture Japan, SOU Japan and BNY Melon USA.

Speaking about the trend, T. G. Sitharam, Director, IIT Guwahati, said, “The number of offers on Day 2 is a clear indicator of the growing perception about the quality of students and Institute. We are witnessing offers for profiles such as IT/Software, Finance, Analyst, Management, Core Electronics and Design. This depicts present industry trends.”

For Phase 1 of placements, 250 companies have registered so far, compared to about 200 companies in the whole of last year (2018-19). A total of 1060 students have registered for placements across departments this year.
