National Education Policy: A Turning Point For India

With increasing importance towards skill-based education in the mainstream, the NEP 2020 if executed well will be a benchmark of development. It is a fundamental shift towards the exponential growth of the students, educators and workforce of the nation. The revision in regulation and governance will also strategically align with the desired goals that 21st-century generation aims to achieve. This will not just serve better academia but also a reliable system where the framework of every institute will be accredited with a justified assessment.

What makes it more delightful is the freedom to choose completely different subjects at the same time without compromising on the hands-on experience that one needs to excel in the field. This looks all shiny yet remains practical for skill and education seekers coming from all the sections of society. The concept of an Academic Bank of Credit (ABC) is novel and coupled with a Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) will facilitate lateral and vertical movement of students through their higher education journey.

The NEP also offers multiple entry and exit points which means that one could actually get into employment at different ages, different times, and different levels of education, unlike the present where one is judged to do so. This will on an overall basis improve the adaptability of the coming generation and ensure every person holds to their true conduct. To make it even better, a confined status of self-worthiness will be realized by every individual.

Right from childhood, the 5+3+3+4 pattern will reduce the burden of hardcore academics and give room to extra-curricular. The availability of vocational studies from a young age will enhance the future route for student and unnecessary subjects will be cut down, resulting in holistic – 360-degree development in the areas of interest. As an open platter to explore skills, now students will also be given an opportunity to pick skills to learn from universities around the globe that excel in the area. In a way, this is a movement to keep the grounds open and allow the forthcoming fresh set of learners to navigate where they seek to, even in terms of overseas education as a prospective option.

To disrupt the current education system and transform the ways of learning into a broader arena of experimentation, the future of Indian minds will have a healthy competition via the National Education Policy. 10 years down the line, appropriate implementation will also attract global leaders to invest well and be a supporting part of the system. In a timely manner, it will meet the industry needs and mould the mentees as an active force. Moreover, the aspect of Make in India will also see a boom as the skill sets will be given equal importance and so will entrepreneurship. The tenacity of comprehensive knowledge and skills with consideration of regional language as a mode of communication at a junior level will also help the local vocabulary focusing on the rich literature. Additionally, as the Lok Vidya rises, the classic Indian culture and varied heritage will also contain its values with a potentiality reach at a universal level.

As conveyed and further presumed, the policy will very well address most of the critical issues that daunt our current education landscape and bring about an inclusive shift that we need for educated and skilled people in India. All in all, the proposed National Education Policy by Ministry of Education (formerly the Ministry of Human Resource Development) need to be brought into effect as soon as possible, so the envisioned hopes can be converted into an earnest and purposeful achievable policy that benefits its stakeholders.
