The report of the International Labour Organization says India’s rank hasn’t improved in the global index of women workforce, with only 27% contributing to the national GDP. A wide variety of economic and social factors including economic growth, increasing educational attainment, falling fertility rates and social norms are the driving factors to this unwanted dip. In addition to these issues, social norms determining the role of women in the public domain continue to affect outcomes in our country even in 2019.
With the poor performance of our national authorities at reforms and policy-making, corporates and social bodies have taken the responsibility of stabilizing and re-forming the work culture. The organizations are challenging the biggest and the foremost roadblock of minimum educational attainment, which gets directly affected due to our country’s patriarchal mindset creating a domino effect to this global shame.
While it is difficult and requires patience to bring the social and behavioural change, companies and individuals are working around educating women by providing them financial assistance. Kind Scholarship for Young Women is one such initiative to give young women the opportunity to build their foundation and become a part of nation-building.
